Lead Application Operations Engineer – CRM / Case Management (Salesforce)
Location: Liverpool, Darlington, Hybrid / Remote
Salary: £42,075 to £44,599
Contract: Permanent
Work pattern: Flexible working, Full-time, Part-time
Closing date: 4 August 2025, 10:00 am
Lead our Salesforce platform and help transform how safeguarding services are delivered across the UK.
This is an exciting time to join the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) as we modernise our technology platforms and strengthen the digital services that support safer recruitment across the UK.
We’re looking for a Lead Application Operations Engineer to take ownership of our Salesforce solution, a key system used to manage casework, customer relationships and service delivery across DBS.
About the role
This is a newly created post within our Technology and Innovation Directorate. The role supports our wider transformation programme, which is replacing legacy platforms with a modern, cloud-first estate.
As the lead for CRM and case management services, you’ll be responsible for the performance, stability and evolution of Salesforce within DBS. That means ensuring the platform runs smoothly day to day but also helping to define how it grows to meet future needs. From managing live services and supporting users to guiding strategic development, you’ll play a central role in how we deliver critical public services.
This is a trusted delivery role that involves close working with DevOps teams, service owners, product managers and other application leads. As our service model continues to evolve, you’ll also contribute to shaping how CRM and casework services are supported in the long term.
About you
We’re looking for someone with experience managing applications in live service environments. Demonstrable experience of delivering services through Salesforce is strongly preferred. You’ll be confident in maintaining service performance, identifying areas for improvement, and working collaboratively with others across technical and operational teams.
This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role with the opportunity to influence how DBS supports its users and customers, now and in the future.
Why choose a career at the Disclosure & Barring Service

Benefits include:
- Civil Service pension with generous employer contributions
- 25 days annual leave, rising to 30 days with service, plus public holidays
- Flexible and hybrid working options, including remote working
- A supportive and inclusive organisational culture
- Ongoing learning and professional development opportunities
Remote working is available for this role. Office attendance (Liverpool or Darlington) may be required in accordance with business needs.
Closing date for applications is 4 August 2025, 10:00 am.
